for Early Learners

Description:

In this mixed age and abilities class, children and a caregiver will explore music by playing instruments, moving to music, reading musical stories, and by bringing their own joy of music to the group. All musical activities are focused on supporting social and emotional development such as emotional regulation, impulse control, turn taking, and leadership skills. Caregivers and parents will also learn ways to incorporate music at home with their children!

 

Goal Areas:

  1. Explore music in a safe, nurturing environment with peers and adults of varying ages and abilities

  2. Practice social and emotional skills such as regulation, impulse control, turn taking, and leadership skills

  3. Learn new ways to use music at home to support healthy relationships, transitions, and activities.

Session Plan Outline:

4:30-4:40 Welcome song(s) and instrument exploration

4:40-4:50 Active music making and instrument of the day

4:50-5:05 Social skills and turn taking

5:05-5:15 Wind down and goodbye​

Group Description:

Bring your little one and your ukulele for this very fun mixed ages and abilities music group! Kids can choose to listen and observe, help their caregiver strum the ukulele, or be active participants while singing, dancing, and playing their own instruments. All skill levels are welcome in this class! Come have fun with your child and show them that you can learn a new skill too!

 

Throughout the 10 week series caregivers will learn the basics of tuning their ukulele, playing a 3 chord progression (C, F, G), and basic strumming patterns. Caregivers will receive a packet of ukulele songs and materials.

Goal Areas:

  1. Caregiver to gain confidence in the basics of playing the ukulele

  2. Child to explore music in a nurturing musical community

  3. Strengthen the musical bond and relationship of the caregiver and child

 

Session Plan Outline:

10:30-10:40 Welcome song(s) and tuning/kids explore percussion instruments/books/materials

10:40-10:50 Ukulele instruction or review/questions

10:50-11:05 Active music making/movement (with or without ukuleles, focus on children)

11:05-11:15 Wind down, goodbye song, questions/ukulele assistance

Do I need a ukulele to join this group?

A personal ukulele is recommended, and Life On Music has a limited number of loaner ukuleles available to use during group. Reach out to the Life On Music team for ukulele links and recommendations!

Group Description:

Join us for this mixed aged music book club where we will use 5 children's books as our themes for the class. Children and adults will be active participants through instrument play, song, movement, exploration of props, and literature! Children will gain skills in listening comprehension, conceptual knowledge of written and spoken/sung words, and develop a positive relationship with books. The best part is kids will take the books home to keep!

Sibling Policy

Life On Music music classes are designed for the whole family! Please register everyone in your family who plans to attend regularly. Un-registered siblings are welcome on school holidays or times additional child care cannot be arranged. Please make sure to introduce them to your music therapist so they can be included in group activities.

Cancelation Policy

You may cancel your enrollment for a full refund up to 30 days before the group start date. You may cancel your enrollment for a 50% refund up to 14 days before the group start date. Within 14 days of the group start date, enrollment is non-refundable.

If a class cancelation is required due to inclement weather or therapists illness, we will notify enrolled participants via the email provided. Every effort will be made to reschedule the missed session and is subject to therapist availability. We are unable to refund or reschedule missed sessions due to participant illness or travel plans.

Payment & Insurance Policy

Invoices are sent via email and payments can be through your bank or credit card using the secure payment system Wave. Checks made out to Life On Music are also accepted. To hold your spot, payment is due at the time of registration.

We are currently considered out-of-network providers with all insurance companies. We will happily provide you with a “superbill” to be used for reimbursement. The amount of coverage varies by insurance plan and reimbursement for services cannot be guaranteed. Please contact us with additional questions or help submitting directly to your insurance company.

Life On Music believes in providing equitable access to music classes and individual therapy. If you are concerned about out-of-pocket costs, please inquire about scholarship opportunities.
